The Body Doesn't Lie: What Your Symptoms Are Trying to Say
Jun 06, 2025
Have you ever noticed how your body "remembers" what your mind tries to forget?
There's a reason you get sick after a breakup. Why your neck tightens when you feel unheard. Why your digestion rebels during grief. Why mysterious symptoms flare when you're swallowing words you need to say.
These patterns aren't coincidences. They're not just "stress." They're your body speaking a language you've forgotten how to understand.
Your body is carrying what your mind hasn't processed. Your nervous system is holding what your heart hasn't expressed. Your pain runs deeper than the physical—and your healing must honor that depth.
We've been conditioned to treat symptoms like inconvenient glitches in an otherwise efficient machine. Pop a pill. Push through. Get back to productivity.
But here's what I've learned after years of watching women reclaim their power: the body doesn't lie. And if we want to truly own our space—not just spiritually, but physically—we have to get brave enough to listen to what it's been trying to tell us.
When Emotions Don't Move, They Take Up Residence
You know that feeling when you've "dealt with" something, but your body hasn't gotten the memo?
You've intellectually "let it go," but your shoulders still live somewhere around your ears. You've "moved on," but your chest carries that familiar weight. You've decided to "not make it a big deal," but your energy feels like it's moving through molasses.
This isn't your body betraying you. This is your body being honest with you.
Emotions that don't get expressed don't simply evaporate—they find somewhere to live. They create friction. They whisper through:
- Unexplained pain that doctors can't quite pin down
- Autoimmune flares that seem to follow life's storms
- Chronic fatigue that sleep can't touch
- Inflammation that rises with your stress levels
- Hormones that fluctuate with your emotional state
- Gut issues that mirror your internal chaos
- Anxiety or depression that feels different from your baseline
This is why band-aid healing—the kind that only addresses surface symptoms—leaves you feeling like you're running in circles. Real healing requires us to tend to the nervous system, the subconscious patterns, and yes, the energetic field where our deepest truths live.
The Chakras: Your Body's Emotional GPS
This is where the ancient wisdom of chakras becomes surprisingly practical.
Think of the chakra system as your body's emotional GPS—a map that helps you understand not just where something hurts, but why it might be showing up there. These seven energy centers, aligned along your spine, each hold different emotional themes and connect to specific physical areas.
Root Chakra (Base of spine)
- Physical whispers: Lower back pain, leg issues, adrenal exhaustion, digestive problems
- Emotional territory: Safety, survival, home, money, belonging
- When imbalanced feels like: Free-floating anxiety, scarcity mindset, feeling unmoored(Health)
Sacral Chakra (Lower abdomen)
- Physical whispers: Reproductive issues, hip tension, bladder problems, menstrual pain
- Emotional territory: Creativity, intimacy, pleasure, emotional flow, desire
When imbalanced feels like: Emotional numbness or volatility, guilt, shame around desires
Solar Plexus Chakra (Upper abdomen)
- Physical whispers: Digestive chaos, chronic fatigue, liver stress, blood sugar swings
- Emotional territory: Personal power, boundaries, self-worth, will
- When imbalanced feels like: Control issues, burnout, that inner critic on repeat
Heart Chakra (Center of chest)
- Physical whispers: Chest tightness, heart irregularities, lung issues, shoulder tension
- Emotional territory: Love, grief, forgiveness, connection
When imbalanced feels like: Walls around your heart, resentment, profound loneliness
Throat Chakra (Throat and neck)
- Physical whispers: Chronic sore throats, thyroid dysfunction, jaw tension, neck pain
- Emotional territory: Communication, truth-telling, authentic expression
- When imbalanced feels like: Swallowing your truth, over-explaining, fear of being truly heard
Third Eye Chakra (Forehead)
- Physical whispers: Persistent headaches, eye strain, brain fog
- Emotional territory: Intuition, clarity, vision, inner knowing
- When imbalanced feels like: Disconnection from your inner compass, overthinking everything
Crown Chakra (Top of head)
- Physical whispers: Bone-deep exhaustion, dizziness, neurological symptoms
- Emotional territory: Spiritual connection, trust in something larger, meaning-making
- When imbalanced feels like: Existential emptiness, feeling spiritually homeless
A gentle reminder: This isn't a diagnostic manual—it's a language. A way to listen more deeply to the conversation your body has been trying to have with you.
The Quiet Revolution of Actually Feeling
Here's what I've discovered: Sometimes the most radical thing we can do isn't to power through or "rise above."
Sometimes the bravest act is to pause long enough to ask:
- What is this tension protecting me from feeling?
- What truth have I been tiptoeing around?
- What boundary have I compromised with myself?
Reclaiming your energy doesn't require a dramatic life overhaul. It begins with the subtle art of noticing:
Why does your jaw clench every time you say yes when you mean no? What happens in your gut when you skip meals and bulldoze through your day? Why does your lower back seize up whenever you try to carry everyone else's emotional weight?
Real power isn't loud or performative. It's embodied. It's coming home to the part of yourself that remembers how to listen—and how to honor what you hear.
Your Invitation to Listen Deeper
This week, I invite you to choose one symptom that's been knocking on your door, asking for attention.
Don't try to fix it or make it disappear. Just sit with it. Breathe with it. Ask it:
- Where exactly do you live in my body?
- What might you be trying to protect me from?
- What truth might I be ready to hear?
You don't need to decode everything perfectly. You just need to be willing to stay present with yourself a little longer than feels comfortable.
Ready to Go Deeper?
If this resonated with something real in you—if your body is asking to be truly seen and your soul is ready for healing that goes beyond the surface—I'd love to continue this conversation with you.
Each week in my newsletter, I share grounded insights, practical energy tools, and honest reflections for women who are ready to heal at the deepest levels. It's not about perfection or having it all figured out.
It's about remembering what you've always known: you are safe to feel, strong enough to heal, and worthy of a body that holds your power, not just your pain.
