From Collapse to Confidence: Posture as a Portal
May 09, 2025
The way you carry yourself says more than you think.
You can tell a lot about a person by how they move through the world.
Not by what they wear.
Not by how they speak.
But by the way their shoulders carry what no one else sees.
The quiet rounding of the spine when no one’s watching.
The stillness—or stiffness—in the chest when they don’t feel safe enough to take up space.
Lately, I’ve been noticing my own posture.
Not in a “sit up straight” kind of way.
But with reverence.
With curiosity.
With a quiet “What are you trying to show me?”
Your Body Tells the Truth
Maybe you’ve felt it too.
That subtle lean forward when you’re rushing,
trying to stay one step ahead of the chaos.
The way your shoulders cave in when you’re carrying too much.
The protective curl that forms when your nervous system is bracing.
These aren’t bad habits.
They’re signals.
Your body remembers.
The tension you pushed through.
The expectations you absorbed.
The grief you never got to name.
And it’s been holding it all—quietly, faithfully—waiting for you to notice.
Posture Isn’t Just Physical. It’s Emotional. It’s Spiritual.
It tells the story of survival.
Of pushing through.
Of showing up when it would’ve been easier to disappear.
And it can also become a doorway.
Not to perfection.
But to presence.
To pause.
To check in.
To return.
A Practice for Noticing (Not Fixing)
Right now, if it feels safe, pause.
Sit or stand.
Place one hand on your heart.
One on your belly.
And just notice.
- Are you leaning forward, already bracing for the next thing?
- Are your shoulders tight from holding so much?
- Is your chest soft… or is it trying to protect something tender?
Take one slow breath.
Let it reach the places that have been holding on for too long.
And instead of trying to fix anything, just say:
“I’m here. I see you. I hear you.”
This is how we begin to return to calm and to ourselves.
Not to a better version of ourselves—but to the version we abandoned in survival.
An Invitation to Go Deeper
If this moment stirred something in you—if your body felt the truth before your mind caught up—this may be the time to go deeper.
Reiki isn’t a performance.
It’s not a quick fix or a productivity hack.
It’s a gentle homecoming.
A way to release what your body has been carrying for too long.
If you’ve been craving rest that actually restores you, or stillness that doesn’t feel like giving up, I hold space for that.
Your next layer of healing is ready when you are.
And it starts with a yes that feels like relief.
