A Bird’s Eye View of Progress: The Iteration Mindset

healing soul-work stress managment transformation Feb 14, 2025

Have you ever watched a hawk hunt? Something is mesmerizing about their patience—the way they sit, still and steady, tracking their prey with unwavering focus—no wasted energy. No rushing. Just presence. And when the time is right? They dive with absolute certainty.

That’s how I’ve felt navigating my healing journey, my family, my purpose, and—most recently—how I’ve evolved the SOS Vault.

Looking back, 2016-2021 was my hurricane season—years of relentless, literal and figurative storms. I was in survival mode, caregiving, navigating my health battles, and trying to hold everything together. I collected tools out of necessity—strategies that kept me steady when the ground beneath me felt anything but.

By 2023, I knew I wanted to combine those tools into something structured that could help others find their footing faster than I did. That became the SOS Vault.

I launched it in January 2024 with a fresh approach—one I hadn’t tried before. It worked. Kind of.

It wasn’t a failure, but it wasn’t precisely soaring either. It is more like a young hawk's first, wobbly test dives—where they miss their target, adjust, and return to the branch, learning with each attempt.

I refined the Vault each month, filling in gaps, responding to feedback, and tweaking what didn’t quite land. And now? I feel that familiar pull again. A call to pause, observe, and decide what’s next.

This is iteration. It’s the art of knowing when to stay still, shift, and leap. And that process? It’s at the heart of my PEACE framework, which is precisely how I approach growth—both in business and in life.

Presence: The Art of Patient Observation

A hawk doesn’t dive at every flicker of movement. It waits. It watches. It tracks.

Presence isn’t passive—it’s an active stillness. It’s the ability to sit with what is, listen deeply, and sense when the right moment arrives.

When I built the SOS Vault, I didn’t throw everything in and call it done. I sat with my experiences, asking:

  • What worked when everything felt like chaos?
  • What tools helped me get through the most challenging days?
  • What could have made the most significant difference if I had known sooner?

That’s how the Vault took shape—not from a place of rushing, but from a place of intentional creation. And now, once again, I find myself perched, observing, deciding where to refine and expand next.

Where in your life do you need to pause and observe before making your next move?

Empowerment: The Courage to Take Flight

The first time a bird leaves the nest, it doesn’t know if it will soar. But it leaps anyway.

Launching the SOS Vault felt like that first flight—exciting, terrifying, and completely unknown. But each iteration since then has required a different kind of courage. Not just the bravery to begin but the strength to admit there’s room for improvement.

  • The courage to let go of what isn’t working.
  • The willingness to try something new, even if it flops.
  • The resilience to get back up and refine.

Iteration isn’t about getting things perfect on the first try. It’s about trusting that each version brings you closer to alignment. And that process? It’s empowering as hell.

Where in your life do you need to take an imperfect step forward?

Alignment: Finding Your True Course

Hawks don’t chase every movement—they track what aligns with their instincts.

When I built the SOS Vault, I thought I knew exactly what people needed. And I did—to an extent. But alignment isn’t about forcing your vision onto others. It’s about staying connected to your deeper why and adjusting the course as new insights emerge.

There have been times when I clung to something simply because I had already invested time and energy. I ignored my instincts, and every time I did that? I burned out.

Now, I build with alignment in mind. I listen to what feels right, not just what looks good on paper. The next evolution of the SOS Vault isn’t about adding more just for the sake of it—it’s about deepening its impact and making it even more aligned with what helps people move through their storms.

Where in your life might a slight shift in direction bring you closer to alignment?

Compassion: The Gentle Wings of Growth

You wouldn’t judge a baby bird for struggling with its first flight. So why do we do that to ourselves?

One of the most complex parts of iteration is not beating yourself up for past versions of your work (or your choices or your mindset).

When I look back at the first version of the Vault, I don’t see something flawed. I see something brave. I see a version of myself who created exactly what was needed. And that’s what growth is—it’s iteration with compassion.

It’s recognizing that every version of you—the one who started, struggled, and adjusted—was necessary to get you to the next step.

How can you show yourself more compassion in your growth right now?

Expansion: The Infinite Horizons

Once a hawk masters its flight, it doesn’t stop soaring. It explores new heights.

Iteration is about endless expansion. There is no final version—only the next evolution.

The SOS Vault started as a collection of tools I relied on. Now, it’s something far more significant than I initially imagined—a structured, intuitive resource designed to help others find stability in their storms.

And guess what? It’s still not done. It will never be done. Because growth isn’t a destination—it’s a continuous journey of learning, refining, and expanding.

Where in your life are you ready to expand beyond what you originally imagined?

Your Invitation to Soar

So here I am, once again, perched on my metaphorical branch, watching and waiting for the next move in the evolution of the SOS Vault.

And as I sit here, I want to ask you:

  • Where are you perched in your own life right now?
  • What are you observing from your current vantage point?
  • How might embracing iteration help you soar to new heights?

Because here’s the thing: Iteration isn’t about fixing something broken. It’s about trusting the process of growth, refinement, and evolution. It’s about knowing when to pause, when to shift, and when to leap.

And when the time is right? You dive.
